Art

Here at Hawksworth Wood, we strive to provide an Art & Design curriculum that engages and inspires children to express their full creative potential.

Our art journey begins in EYFS and develops sequentially across Years 1 to 6 where our children are immersed in opportunities to explore art in a way that nurtures their talents and interests, emotions and thoughts about the world. Our children also have the opportunity to learn about a range of influential artists and craft makers, as well as the rich heritage and culture of the British Isles and beyond through their termly art units and dedicated whole-school art weeks.

As children progress through school, our Art and Design scheme supports them to meet the National Curriculum end of key stage attainment targets through the discreet teaching and practise of the formal elements of art. Our scheme ultimately aims to inspire our pupils to create, experience and participate in great arts and culture so that they can develop their confidence to experiment and invent their own works of art through a knowledge and skill rich curriculum.
