Languages

Here at Hawksworth Wood, we begin our official language learning in Year 3, exploring Spanish greetings colours and numbers. Progressing through school, children will start to structure sentences with verbs, looking at a range of topics from family to hobbies and food and drink. We also explore common objects and instructions used with a classroom setting. Across the year groups, we ensure that we develop our knowledge of Spain as a country, adding context and capturing interest within the children with a journey through different cities in Latin America.

We aim to increase the profile of Spanish at Hawksworth Wood, incorporating it throughout the school day. This may be a simple Spanish greeting in assembly or a good morning in the register.
