2RB enjoyed a fabulous trip to Temple Newsam House as part of our History Topic work on Queen Elizabeth I. In addition to learning about the history and the owners of the House itself, we had the opportunity to sketch a portrait of Good Queen Bess. We also learnt about some commonly used articles of the time, including trenchers and wee-pots, and sniffed the sort of smells you would encounter in the Tudor period, not all of which were very pleasant! The children thoroughly enjoyed their day and the staff at the House were particularly impressed by how much we had learnt about the Elizabeth era already. A huge thanks to Nikki and her team at Temple Newsam House, as well as the Hawksworth Wood staff, for helping to make the trip such a resounding success!
